What kinds of topics do speakers listed on AboutSF discuss?
Our speakers are qualified to discuss a wide range of topics, including future trends in science, technology and society; the history and fascination of science fiction literature, recent films and television series, the boom of fantasy, how to write and get published, and many other subjects. Each speaker's personal information page contains a biography and list of topics that he or she feels qualified to talk about.
If you have a specific speaking need -- for instance, if you'd like to engage a futurist speaker to talk about life in 2020 -- and you cannot find anyone listed who meets your criteria, please contact the AboutSF coordinator at info@aboutsf.com and we'll do our best to find a speaker who meets your needs!
Is there any cost to hire a speaker? If so, how much?
Each speaker sets his or her own speaking fee. AboutSF does not establish fees, nor do we charge a commission on any speaking fee that may be charged (although speakers are encouraged to contribute a portion of any fee they receive to help cover the costs of maintaining this service).
Speakers listed on AboutSF range from those who are willing to speak for free at local events to experienced professional speakers who may charge substantial fees. To learn about speakers' typical fees, please look at their personal information page or contact them directly. It is expected that, at minimum, all speaker travel costs and other expenses will be covered by the client.
Can I join the AboutSF Speculation Speakers program?
AboutSF accepts speakers who have substantial experience in the science fiction, fantasy, horror, or futurism fields, including all active members of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. If you feel that you meet this criteria, please feel free to apply to join.
I'm a speaker and I've lost my password. What can I do?
Please contact the AboutSF coordinator at info@aboutsf.com and ask to have your password reset.
I'm a speaker but I no longer wish to be listed. How can I delete my name?
Please contact the AboutSF coordinator at info@aboutsf.com and ask to have your name removed from our database.
