Mark Brake is Professor of Science Communication and Director of the University of Glamorgan’s Centre for Astronomy and Science Education. He set up the world’s only degree programmes in Science: Fiction and Culture and Astrobiology. He’s done so much science communication work in television and radio his editor says he would ‘tap dance to the light of the fridge’. He was consultant to the Science Museum’s ‘The Science of Aliens’ astrobiology exhibition and his book, Different Engines: How Science Drives Fiction and Fiction Drives Science, written with his colleague, the Reverend Neil Hook, is to be published by MacMillan Science in 2007.
