Welcome to AboutSF - A Science Fiction Resource Center

Latest News: As mentioned here earlier, AboutSF will host "Teaching Science Fiction: A Portable Workshop" at both Worldcon and the Campbell Conference this summer. We've added a new navigation area specifically devoted to "SF Teaching Workshops" with more information.

AboutSF is a resource center for speculative literature, science fiction, and education. We're here to help educators, researchers, and fans learn more about speculative literature. Our site includes the following areas:

  • Speculation Speakers provides a searchable database of writers and scholars who are available to make presentations on science fiction.

  • Lessons Library features sample syllabi, lesson plans, and reader's guides for science fiction courses in a variety of educational areas and levels.

  • Literature Donations helps connect potential donors with libraries, schools, youth centers, or individuals who wish to receive books, periodicals, or other SF-related media.

  • Research Resources contains several master lists of SF-friendly research libraries and graduate programs, including locations of SF author's manuscripts.

  • CSSF Resources has links to areas on our sister site, the Center for the Study of Science Fiction at the University of Kansas.

  • AboutSF's blog provides news about our projects and allows visitors to read and comment on successful educational stories.

AboutSF coordinates volunteer efforts throughout the speculative fiction field. AboutSF is a joint project of the University of Kansas, the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, and the Science Fiction Research Association, with generous support from Tor Books, The Heinlein Prize Trust, and several individual donors.
