Donor Information

Thank you for your interest in donating SF books and magazines to AboutSF! With your help, we can put science fiction into the hands of young people and bring our genre to life in the minds of the next generation.

You can donate new or used books or magazines -- or, if you prefer, you can donate money with which AboutSF can purchase books and magazines for our recipient list. Any money contributed to the AboutSF Literature Donations project will be used solely for this program; it won't be used to fund any of our other projects.

Whether you choose to contribute texts or funds, you have two options as to how your donation will be used. Either you may contribute an unmarked donation, which will be distributed by AboutSF to the recipients whom it considers most needy, or you may target your contribution to an individual or institution on our recipient list.

Although we're interested in receiving SF books of all types, keep in mind that the primary goal of this project is to get science fiction into the hands of young people. As such, we're especially interested in YA science fiction or in adult SF that would be appropriate for children and teenagers. (And please, if the materials you're donating aren't appropriate for kids, note that when you send in your donation!)

To ensure that your donation is processed quickly and efficiently, please enclose a copy of our donation information sheet with your shipment.

Note that books and magazines may be sent at the US Postal Service's media mail (or "book") rate, which -- depending on the weight of the materials you're sending -- can cost as little as 33 cents per pound. If shipping costs are prohibitive to you, please don't let this discourage you from donating; just contact Nathaniel Williams at info@aboutsf.com and AboutSF will make arrangements to reimburse you!

To donate funds to this project, please send a check made payable to the "Center for the Study of Science Fiction" (or "CSSF") to the address above. Make sure to specify on your check that the donation is for the Literature Donation Project.
